Bob Dylan – The Dylan Tree
In the fall of 2007; the Dylan Tree formed, featuring five known and respected Canadian musicians with extensive touring and recording experience to their credit, and a mutual passion for the words and music of Bob Dylan, as do so many other recording artists.
They quickly gained a following from their appearances, in and around the Toronto area at profile venues including; Hughes Room, Jeff Healy’s Road House, the Canadian National Exhibition and appearances on Toronto radio and television. In the early 2009,
All Access Productions produced the band’s electronic press kit, marking the beginning of the Dylan Tree theatre shows, which in turn led to the filming of their concert at the Markham Theatre, where The Dylan Tree and All Access Productions donated the ticket sale proceeds from this concert to the SickKids Hospital Foundation in Toronto.
The two hour concert was edited down to fit the format for a one hour television broadcast which aired twice in 2009, with impressive ratings. The Dylan Tree was invited to perform at both, the Windsor and London Blues Festivals in key performance slots that year after promoter, Ted Boomer attended a media night in Toronto, where he was very impressed by their performance and was quoted as saying; the easiest way to describe the Dylan Tree is; if the Eagles were to perform the music of Dylan, that’s what you get with the Dylan Tree…
In less than three years, the Dylan Tree has gained a solid reputation as a, slick and polished show suitable for all ages, either on a theatre, corporate or festival stage. In the words of Ron LePage from the Markham Theatre; The Dylan Tree show was extremely well produced, incorporating a unique stage set and lighting design. Distinguishing video screen pre-recorded still images and era related video footage, blended with live artist action projections that complimented the musical performances. The whole experience was extraordinary for this level of theatre…As the audience sincerely acknowledged. This show has proven itself… Give the people what they want and deserve!
